CLSU Recognizes Outstanding Employees and Service Awardees

Staying true to its commitment of nurturing a culture of excellence, Central Luzon State University (CLSU) recognized the dedicated service and outstanding performance of its employees during the 2024 Service Recognition and PRAISE (Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence) Ceremony as a culmination of the 117th Founding Anniversary Celebration held on April 12, 2024 at the Multipurpose Gym. Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, VP for Administration and Chair of the PRAISE Committee formally opened the program highlighting that regardless of position, every employee is the heart and soul of the university. “Each of you plays an indispensable role in our university. The awards that we will be presenting today are more than just symbols of achievement, they are tokens of the university's gratitude for all the many work hours, sacrifices, and passion that every one of you has given to CLSU,” said Dr. Mactal. Meanwhile, Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, University President, delivered his keynote speech where he expressed his gratitude to everyone who assisted the university in attaining its quality policy statements and encouraged the younger employees to recognize and respect the contributions of those who served the university for more than a decade. “I hope the younger members of our community would be inspired by those who had established this university, let us not forget the magnitude of their contributions. I thank all of you for executing our ideas with precision and excellence, indeed, we have shown how we can conquer great things together. I must tell you that the task of being your leader is definitely hard, but to do it for all of you, it is worth it. CLSU is definitely worth it,” Dr. Abella added. The awarding then proceeded for the employees who have been in the service for at least 10 years up to those who have served for more than 40 years, as well as the retirees from 2023 to 2024 who all received certificates, pins, and plaques of recognition. Meanwhile, the PRAISE and Presidential Awards were accorded by the member of the Executive Committee to the following outstanding faculty, staff and group who showed exemplary performance in their respective fields: Outstanding Official – Dr. Jay C. Santos Outstanding Faculty (Level II) – Assoc. Prof. Geraldine Gantioque-Tayag Outstanding Faculty (Level I) – Mr. Darwin G. Dela Cruz Outstanding Administrative Staff (Level II) – General Administration and Support Services – Mr. Jonathan T. Gurion Outstanding Administrative Staff – Research and Extension Program (Level II) – Ms. Janet N. Padilla Outstanding Administrative Staff – Research and Extension Program (Level I) – Mr. Aquilino V. Romero, Jr. Outstanding Administrative Staff – Academic Affairs Program – (Level I) – Mr. Aurelio R. Agulto Jr. Outstanding Group - Special Purpose Rice Presidential Awardee – Mr. Ryan B. Esteban Presidential Awardee – Armando S. Santos Furthermore, in behalf of the service awardees for both academic and non-academic staff, Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz and Ms. Rowena R. Pineda delivered their response while Prof. Eufemio R. Calang, Jr. and Ms. Teodora A. Polo, delivered their messages in behalf of the academic and non-academic retirees, respectively.

CenTrAD, CVSM Hold VetALERT Training to Enhance Veterinary Capacity

In an effort to build stronger veterinary capacity, the Center for Transboundary Diseases (CenTrAD) and the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine (CVSM) held a training workshop entitled Advancing Livestock Enterprise and Resource Training Program for Veterinarians (VetALERT): Strengthening Diagnostic Competence in Pathology and Transferrable Veterinary Skills on August 26-29, 2025. In her Opening Remarks, Dr. Virginia M. Venturina, Director of CenTrAD, warmly welcomed the participants and underscored the significance of the activity in advancing veterinary practice, emphasizing its role in enhancing professional growth and ensuring quality service. Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, CLSU Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Corrie Brown, LifeStock International Executive Director; Dr. Christian P. Daquigan, DA-BAI OIC Director; Dr. Jerry V. Alcantara, PVMA President; and Dr. Noraine P. Medina, CVSM Professor, delivered messages of support. They also highlighted the significance of partnership and collaboration in advancing veterinary services. Also, Dr. Janice S. Garcia, Head of the DA-BAI National ASF Prevention and Control Program, presented a comprehensive presentation on the topic “Navigating the Landscape: Challenges in Field Detection of Emerging Animal Diseases.” The session started with a lecture on Introduction to Adult Learning facilitated by Dr. Brown, followed by scenario-based discussions on avian diseases jointly conducted by Dr. Brown, Dr. Nicholas Streitenberger, and Dr. Kelsey Fiddes of the Global Health Pathology Network. The program, facilitated by Dr. Mark Andrew N. Cuento, a member of the Philippine College of Poultry Practitioners and a recognized expert in poultry, concluded with an interactive hands-on training on chicken necropsy, sample collection, handling, storage, packaging, and report writing. CLSU Maestro-Singers Earn Gold in Musica Sacra at AOV Choral Festival

Representing Central Luzon State University with artistry and excellence, the CLSU Maestro-Singers proudly won the Gold Diploma Award in the Musica Sacra category at the recently concluded Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival 2025, held from August 20 to 24, 2025. The Musica Sacra competition happened at the Church of the Gesù at Ateneo de Manila University. The CLSU Maestro-Singers performed the following sacred masterpieces: - Christus Factus Est by Anton Bruckner - Tu es Petrus by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina - Crux Fidelis arranged by Alejandro D. Consolacion II Competing against 18 of the country’s top choral ensembles, the CLSU Maestro – Singers showcased their unwavering passion and commitment to the choral arts, bringing pride and honor to the university and the nation.

Former CLSU Student Pub EIC Named Outstanding Tertiary Campus Journalist in Central Luzon

CLSU Collegian Former Editor-in-Chief (EIC), Mr. Winchester Santos, has been selected as one of Central Luzon’s Top 10 Outstanding Tertiary Campus Journalists in the 4th Search for Outstanding Tertiary Campus Journalists (OTCJ) out of the 23 nominees across the region. He is the first-ever recipient of the said award hailing from Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and its official student publication bestowed by the Association of Tertiary School Paper Advisers of Region III, Inc. (ATSPAR III) and Young Journalists Association of Region III (YJAR III). Mr. Santos will receive the award during the 4th Young Journalists Press Freedom Congress (YJPFC) at the Tarlac State University (TSU) — Lucinda Campus on Friday, August 29, 2025.
