Ms. Maria Jeaia Cao, a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy sophomore student at Central Luzon State University (CLSU), showed her skills in speech delivery as she entered the Top 30 in the 6th Association of Universities in Asia and the Pacific (AUAP) Students English Speech Competition (SESC) on March 30, 2022.
The event, also known as the 2nd AUAP Virtual Student Speech (VSESC), was organized by the AUAP in cooperation with Siam University, Bangkok, Thailand, and the Association of Indian Principals (AIP). It is an annual competition showcasing the talents of students from Asia and the Pacific in preparing and delivering a speech on a given topic. Participants of the said event include bachelor’s degree students, students from AUAP member institutions, and non-AUAP member institutions.
In search of a representative for the competition, CLSU held an online screening last December 9, 2021, adapting the competition’s speech topic “Should society embrace the advances in Artificial Intelligence?”. The top 3 placers were announced on December 10, 2021, with Ms. Cao ranking first.
To claim her spot, Ms. Cao will again compete in the Top 15 on April 27, 2022, at 12:00 PM, Bangkok time, Thailand via Zoom.
The AUAP, a non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 and based in Thailand, has been organizing annual events like conferences, and workshops for higher education institutions across Asia and the Pacific. It serves as a platform for universities in Asia and the Pacific and even around the world. More importantly, it aims to create a connection between its member universities that will give way for collaboration opportunities.
