The Central Luzon State University through the University Extension Center (UEC) implements the five-year program (2020-2025) Techno-Village Development Program. This is an initiative of the University President, Dr. Edgar A. Orden, which unifies the extension activities of the university to accelerate countryside development. Moreover, it aims to transform communities into a hub of applicable technologies from CLSU to help families attain far-reaching socio-economic development.
On September 21, 2020, an inception meeting led by Dr. Eugenia G. Baltazar, UEC Director and the program team leader with Talavera Municipal Mayor Nerivi Santos, its Local Government Unit (LGU) officials, and farmer association leaders, was held at the Talavera Municipal Hall for the roll-out of the program.
Its implementation is divided into five phases: (1) Social Mobilization Phase, (2) Techno Demonstration Phase, (3) Adoption-Replication Phase, (4) Techno Enterprise Establishment Phase, and (5) the Sustainability Planning and Hand-over activities.
Each phase intends to improve the people’s general well-being, increase food security and nutrition, higher farm incomes, enhance productivity, viable techno-agro enterprise projects, and enhance techno-agro enterprise management knowledge, attitude, values, skills, and practices.
This program is a collaborative effort of the UEC, University Research Center (URC), colleges and other college-based R&D Centers, local government units (LGUs) of Science City of Muñoz and Talavera, community-based organizations, and farmer associations.
