CLSU to hail 594 Midyear Graduands; 111 with Academic Honors and Special Awards

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) will hold its 33rd Midyear Commencement Exercises with the theme “Generating Knowledge, Cultivating Partnerships and Nurturing Entrepreneurial Skills in Advancing Agricultural Innovations” to hail 594 graduands with their respective academic degrees on February 16, 2024 at the Dr. Pedro A. Abella Graduation Site. Among the graduands, 111 will be receiving academic honors and special awards led by Angelica G. Quitalig, a BS Biology student who achieved the highest academic honor and will graduate as Magna Cum Laude (1.31). As class valedictorian, she will address her fellow graduands during the Tea Party and Recognition Program set on February 14. The graduating class includes 283 graduands from the College of Agriculture, 29 from College of Arts and Social Sciences; 15 from College of Business Administration and Accountancy; 18 from College of Education; 126 from College of Engineering; 36 from College of Fisheries; 11 from College of Home Science and Industry; 58 from College of Science; 2 from College of Veterinary Science and Medicine; and 16 from the Distance, Open, and Transnational University. An ecumenical and baccalaureate service will also be held on February 15 as part of the graduation ceremonies to celebrate the success of the ‘golden grains’ before they join the roll of work-ready CLSUans. Fulbright Opens Educational Opportunities for CLSU Faculty and Students

The Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF) or the Fulbright Commission in the Philippines conducted a scholarship information session for the faculty and students of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) held at the R&E Amphitheater on February 29, 2024. Ms. Mila Tan, Senior Program Officer of PAEF provided a comprehensive overview of the various scholarship opportunities offered by the Fulbright Program. She also addressed queries from interested students and faculty members on the application process and encouraged them to participate in the Fulbright Program to pursue graduate study. "We want you to be part of the change for the better so when you come home from your academic pursuit as a Fulbright scholar, we expect you to be able to make an impact here in CLSU" said Ms. Mila Tan. Furthermore, the CLSU Fulbright Alumni shared their ventures, experiences in pursuing their studies abroad, and how Fulbright helped them become successful in their personal, academic, and professional pursuits. Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, the Vice President for Academic Affairs graced the event along with faculty and students from various colleges. The event was organized by the International Affairs Office (IAO) together with the Fulbright-Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Alumni Association Philippines.

FAC, CF and IIRR Forge Partnership for Climate Solutions in Aquaculture

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) through the Freshwater Aquaculture Center (FAC) and the College of Fisheries (CF) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) to address climate change impacts on small-scale aquaculture and foster sustainable aquatic food systems on February 27, 2024. The collaboration will implement an action research project titled "Building an Evidence Base for Inclusive Nature-based Climate Solutions in Small-scale Aquaculture for Sustainable Aquatic Food Systems in the Philippines and Cambodia” funded by the International Development Research Council (IDRC) of Canada. University President, Dr. Evaristo A. Abella and Mr. Arvin Jay Carandang, Project Manager of AQUADAPT PhilCam led the MOA signing with Dr. Karl Marx A. Quiazon, Director of the Freshwater Aquaculture Center, Dr. Emmanuel Vera Cruz, Dean of the College of Fisheries, Dr. Jonathan V. Fabula, Director of the University Research Program Office (URPO), and Prof. Janet O. Saturno, Director of University Gender and Development Office as witnesses. Also present were some faculty researchers and staff of FAC and CF. IIRR is a non-profit organization and one of the world’s leading rural-focused NGOs focusing specifically on rural communities.

CLSU takes 17th spot in PH; Leads HEIs in Region 3 based on Webometrics

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) ranked 17th among the 363 universities based on the latest edition of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities further solidifying its position as a leading institution in the country and the leading Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Central Luzon. Moreover, CLSU positioned itself as 1,768th HEI in Asia and 5,126th in the world. The Webometrics Ranking is published twice a year, covering more than 32,000 Higher Education Institutions worldwide based on the institution’s number of top-cited researchers (openness), top-cited papers (excellence), and substantial web visibility (web content impact).
