As an institution committed and dedicated to providing holistic and transformative education, 1,816 graduands of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) are set to be conferred with their respective degrees wherein 628 of them will graduate with academic honors during the 70th Annual Commencement Exercises on July 15 at the Dr. Pedro A. Abella Graduation Site.
Mr. Jerwin G. De Leon, BS Mathematics from the College of Science will lead the graduating class of 2022 as he will be receiving the highest honor - Summa cum laude, with a general weighted average of 1.13. With him are 37 others to graduate as Magna cum laude, 579 as Cum laude, and 11 with Honors.
Among the recipients of academic honors, 212 is from the College of Education (CEd); 138 from the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA); 107 from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS); 83 from the College of Science (CoS); 39 from the College of Home Science and Industry (CHSI); 31 from the College of Engineering (CEn); 12 from the College of Agriculture (CAg); and 6 from the College of Fisheries (CF).
Meanwhile, Dr. Ronald L. Adamat, CHED Commissioner and Chair of the CLSU Board of Regents, is set to address the graduating class as a guest of honor and commencement speaker for this year’s graduation with the theme “Sustaining Resilience and Excellence in Higher Education for a Better Future”.
The graduating class of 2022 will be the first batch to experience face-to-face graduation after two years of implementing virtual graduation due to COVID-19 restrictions. The breakdown of graduating students by college is as follows: CEd - 405; CBAA - 336; CASS - 308; CEn - 197; CS - 173; CAg - 146; CHSI - 144; College of Veterinary Science and Medicine (CVSM) - 61; CF – 26; and the Distance, Open and Transnational University (DOTUni) - 20.
According to University President Edgar A. Orden, while the members of the graduating class are preparing to embark on their next journey as post-graduates in a post-pandemic world, the University also ensures the smooth flow of the commencement exercises.
“Finally, after having virtual graduations for almost two years, we will now be able to conduct it in-person, rain or shine,” President Orden said.
He also added that this year’s graduating class “will have the chance to leave CLSU with some sense of normalcy and tradition, a feat which seemed impossible during the lost years of college at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
