CLSU, UC-SEARCA Kick Off 9th UC Summer School with "Ridge to Reef" Focus

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), in partnership with the University Consortium (UC) Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), officially kicked off the 9th University Consortium Summer School on July 28, 2025, at the Academic Affairs Amphitheater. This year's program revolved around the theme, “Ridge to Reef: Integrated Management for Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems,” aiming to address critical issues in food security and environmental resilience through a holistic approach. Bringing together 27 graduate students from six diverse countries—the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, and Malaysia—the summer school promises an intensive period of learning and collaboration, running until August 8, 2025. Dr. Nur Azura Binti Adam, SEARCA Deputy Director of Programs, delivered the first lecture where she discussed the topic on Integrated Pest Management Across Agroecosystems, focusing on comprehensive pest control strategies applicable in various environments. Following her was Dr. Gella Patria L. Abella, Head of the CLSU Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM) who emphasized the critical need for proper land assessment as a cornerstone for sustainable development. Adding a broader perspective, Dr. Annie Melinda Paz-Alberto, President of the Climate Action and Sustainable Development Association and former CLSU University Professor, highlighted the overarching Ridge-to-Reef approach for integrated management, underscoring its vital role in ensuring both food security and ecosystem resilience. In his opening message, Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, CLSU President, expressed his certainty that the graduate students would not only gain new knowledge but also fully experience Philippine culture and significantly expand their professional networks. “You should think that the more important part of this class is the networking. You build the networks and collaboration with participants so that after the class, as you return to your respective countries, you continue to collaborate,” President Abella said. The 9th UC Summer School was designed to be a transformative experience for graduate students, fostering invaluable knowledge exchange and critical collaboration to collectively address the pressing global challenges of food security and environmental sustainability through its comprehensive "Ridge to Reef" framework.

CLSU Graduate Programs Eye Approval for Level IV Accreditation

The graduate programs under the Institute of Graduate Studies (IGS) underwent a comprehensive three-day Level IV, 2nd Cycle accreditation survey visit conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) from September 2 to 4, 2026. The rigorous evaluation covered eight advanced degree programs: Master in Agribusiness, Master of Science in Agricultural Economics, Master of Science in Crop Protection, Master of Science in Animal Science, Master of Science in Crop Science, Master of Science in Soil Science, Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science, and Doctor of Philosophy in Crop Science. During the closing program, Dr. Edgardo P. Lillo delivered the overall impression on behalf of the accrediting team, commending the college for sustaining high standards while maintaining the unique identity of each academic program. Dr. Lillo further highlighted key strengths including high-quality international research publications, strong alumni employability, active community engagement, highly qualified faculty roster, growing portfolio of patents and copyrights, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust local and international partnerships. In response, University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, represented by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, delivered the Pledge of Commitment, expressing deep gratitude to the AACCUP accreditors and the internal task force for their thorough evaluation. “We shall listen, learn, evaluate, innovate, and improve. As the CLSU community, we pledge to commit to quality, to lead with integrity and excellence, to serve with purpose and compassion, and to continuously pursue an unending journey of excellence,”

CBA’s Double Triumph at the 34th Agora Youth Awards

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) - College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) students delivered a strong performance in both group and individual categories during the 34th Agora Youth Awards, held on August 30, 2026, at Newport World Resorts, Pasay City – one of the country's most prestigious recognitions for young marketing talent. Competing with more than 40 collegiate marketing organizations, the CLSU Junior Marketing Association emerged as 1st Runner-Up for Outstanding Junior Marketing Association of the Philippines. Represented by Adralyn Ara A. Alcaide, Glenn Hardy E. Espinas, Myka Daniels M. Portillo, Joseph Vincent V. Tan, and Aleeya Margareth V. Reyes, the team advanced through a competitive national selection process—from open nominations to the Top 10 finalists. They ultimately placed in the top three nationwide after presenting a winning marketing plan for case sponsor Newport World Resorts. In the individual category, Joshua Gabriel T. Dela Cruz was named Top 7 Outstanding Marketing Students of the Philippines from a pool of over 80 national candidates. He advanced through a high-stakes interview round into the Top 15, then delivered a compelling marketing plan for MakerLab that secured his top-ten spot. Both victories were guided by Asst. Prof. June Ann J. Casimiro, whose mentorship continues to transform student potential into national excellence. These back-to-back achievements showcase the university’s commitment to shaping industry-ready graduates who excel on the marketing stage. #SievingForExcellence

DBM Conducts Validation of CLSU Infrastructure and Financial Performance

Officials from the Department of Budget and Management Region III (DBM) visited Central Luzon State University to conduct a Full-Time Delivery Unit (FDU) Validation and site inspection on August 26, 2026. The visit aimed to evaluate and monitor the university's financial and physical performance, address administrative bottlenecks, and inspect ongoing projects around the campus. Led by Chief Budget and Management Specialist II, Ms. Adoracion Q. Mangalino, the DBM delegates inspected key project sites, including the new dormitories built on the former old market, the newly renovated university library, and various completed infrastructure projects around the university. After the inspection, the group convened for the University President's report, which highlighted achievements in academic standing, global rankings, research, and extension, followed by the FDU assessment proper. Key officials present in the meeting were Vice President for Administration, Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, Vice President for Business Affairs, Dr. Karenina B. Romualdo, Director of Financial Management Services Office, Ms. Jinky Parugrug, Director of Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Management Office, Mr. Ryan Esteban to provide insight into their respective areas. The joint visit concluded with a strong reaffirmation of the university's commitment to delivering high-impact projects that meet DBM standards.
