The Central Luzon State University - Distance, Open and Transnational University (CLSU DOT-Uni) successfully celebrated its 25th Founding Anniversary on August 30, 2022 with a theme “The Digital University and the Future of Higher Education in the Philippines and Beyond.”
The celebration kicked-off with the ribbon cutting and blessing of the DOT-Uni exhibit. The event was graced by CLSU President Edgar A. Orden and Dr. Danilo S. Vargas, VP for Administration along with the College Deans and other officials.
A DOT-Uni Timeline and Curricular Program Colloquium followed right after to celebrate the highlights and traces of its history, accomplishments and future goals which was held at the College of Education Amphitheater.
During the program, Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, College of Fisheries Acting Dean and OIC of the Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs, acknowledged the efforts of DOT-Uni in going beyond the offering of traditional form of education.
“Twenty-five years of education excellence, it is symbolically a silver, reflecting the brilliance and shine of DOT-Uni in giving quality graduate program courses having enhanced the professional of the best men and women here and abroad,” said Dr. Velasco.
Moreover, Dr. Danilo S. Vargas recalled how the unit progressed over time, starting of with only two program offerings. Now, CLSU DOT-Uni offers 3 Doctorate degrees, 8 Masters degrees and 1 certificate program catering to students from 17 countries.
“From the establishment of this transnational education, we have started with two courses but since then it has grown to more offerings which proves its effectivity, and reach of providing excellent education in the digital arena. We have indeed delivered equitable access to higher education without compromising any of its quality,” he added.
Serving as guest of honor and speaker, Dr. Natarajan Varaprasad from Singapore Education Consulting Group presented “Connecting the Dots” where he discussed the possible future of education and knowledge-based strategies that can be used for the future endeavors of the DOT-Uni.
In closing, Dr. Elaida R. Fiegalan, the Acting Dean of DOT-Uni expressed her gratitude to the CLSU administration and the whole team of DOT-Uni for their utmost support and dedication that made the event possible and a big success.
