Philippines takes pride as Benjamin Josiah Granada, BS Education student of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) bags 1st runner up in a speech competition sponsored by SEAMEO-RIHED under Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Program, held at Hotel Nikko, Bangkok, Thailand last November 11, 2019.
The said competition is composed of two parts: Part I, prepared speech delivery, and Part II, two-minute impromptu speech, participated by eight students representing the eight-member countries of AIMS.
According to AIMS Philippines, powerful delivery, and nice discussions on topics with the theme of “Promoting, Caring, and Sharing through Mobility” helped Granada won the first runner up.
“As for me, the experience was great kasi international exposure. So meeting new people with new culture really helped me a lot in terms of my growth and development as a person, kasi you begin to understand more people, why do they act this way.” Granada said in an interview regarding his experience in the competition.
Granada also said that his inspiration during the competition is to give Glory to God, his church, family, and his coach Dr. Mark Moyano, for his sacrifices in training him. He also shared that he had a hard time preparing for the competition because of his academic requirements and his ongoing immersion. “Without God’s grace and his help I wouldn’t have done it,” said Granada.
“If you have a talent or ability you are good at, don’t be ashamed of that talent, don’t hide it, do everything to perfect your craft kasi when you master one craft nobody could take that away from you, and you are going to reach greater heights... and of course dedicate your passion to God,”
Granada added as he is looking forward to join more activities or programs of AIMS.
