Mr. Moshe Broner and Ms. Nina Lehmann, Israeli experts in agriculture, visited the Central Luzon State University on March 8, 2022, as part of their two-day visit to help assess Israel Embassy’s current and potential partnership programs with the University.
The partnership started in 2006 through the Philippine-Israel Center for Agricultural Training (PICAT Project), a technical cooperation project signed by Israel’s Center for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) and the Philippines’ Agrarian Reform department.
The delegation received a warm welcome from the CLSU officials headed by the University President, Dr. Edgar A. Orden, together with Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Armando N. Espino Jr., Vice President for Administration, Dr. Danilo S. Vargas, Vice President for Business Affairs, Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, University Research Center Director, Dr. Maria Excelsis Orden, University Extension Center Officer In-Charge, Dr. Jonathan S. Galindez, and Division Chief and Visit Coordinator, Dr. Eugenia G. Baltazar.
The experts toured specialized R&D Centers and projects in the University including the Agriculture and Food Technology Business Incubator (AFTBI) Facility, URC’s Israeli Greenhouse, Ramon Magsaysay-Center for Agricultural Resources and Environmental Studies (RM-CARES), Indoor Vertical Farming System (IVFS) Project, Land and Water Resources Management Center (LWRMC), and Precision and Digital Agriculture Center (PreDiC).
On the second day, the experts will visit CLSU’s partner communities and hold consultation meeting with farmers, extension workers, and local officials. They will also meet with members of Shalom Club of Nueva Ecija, Philippines, Inc., a socio-civic organization of MASHAV course graduates.
MASHAV through the Israel Embassy hopes to intensify its partnerships with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in promoting best agricultural practices and innovations in the Philippines.
