One of the 'Best Selling' Author Jerry Yapo Holds Book Launching in CLSU

Professor Jerry R. Yapo from University of the Philippines – Los Banos, launched his book entitled "Artfully Speaking and Other Essays" which according to his publisher is the newest best selling book in the country after its first print was sold out in less than a year. The launching was led by the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) Center for Central Luzon Studies in partnership with Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) last March 16 at the CLSU Reimers Hall. Delighted by the warm welcome of the CLSU community including students from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), Prof. Yapo shared his milestone and success in writing his book which depicts his personal life experiences and encounters from his early childhood up to his professional life in UP. The book launch also featured several art works and sculptures by several local artists which compliments the essays within the book. In his pep talk about writing for publication, Prof. Yapo shared to the audience some key elements which for him was helpful in writing his first book and proves that anyone with the proper story and passion can be a successful author.   “Learn how to blow up the world and then the rules will come later” so my techniques is simply read to breathe in, write to breathe out, Insincerity as the number one enemy of language  don’t fake it just like how you prettify yourself, Find your voice,  Reveal inner truth, Start with a compelling idea (hook), The best writing is rewriting, and Text should be easily read, but difficult to master. “ said Prof. Yapo. Meanwhile, Atty. Marvin B. Aceron, Publisher from San Anselmo Publication Inc., took the opportunity to introduce some of their published books and donated several sets to the Bongabon National High School represented by Ms. Leilani Sabugo, and to the CLSU University Library which was received by Ms. Camia Lasig and Dr. Jay C. Santos, CASS Dean. A book signing then took place giving those who purchased the book the opportunity to have a moment with and have their books signed by Prof. Yapo while selected faculty and students from the Department of English and Humanities were reading excerpts from his book. Attendees of the event include Dr. Renato G. Reyes, VP for Academic Affairs, Ms. Laarnie Mandiwa from PhilRice, local artist Elito Circa also known as ‘Amang Pintor’, and more than 80 college and high school students.

CVSM Clinches Top Spot at 32nd PARAmihan ng Alam

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine (CVSM), has once again proven its excellence in veterinary sciences, clinching the Championship title at the 32nd National PARAmihan ng Alam, organized by the UP Alpha Chiron Society (UPACS), held on March 7, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). Outshining 21 teams from 11 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across the country, the CLSU delegation secured the top spot, earning the P20,000 grand prize and a specialized kit of professional resources that solidifies its reputation as a powerhouse in veterinary parasitology. The championship-winning trio was composed of Ms. Dannah Jedidah G. Lucas, Ms. Krista M. Mendoza, and Mr. Mark Joedel U. Mendez. Other teams, featuring Allen Dave B. Serrano, Dan Carlo H. Crisostomo, and Lance Josef E. Landagan, also delivered a formidable performance. The expert mentorship of Dr. Katrina E. delos Reyes and Dr. Marvin Bryan S. Salinas guided both teams. CLSU placed ahead of other SUCs, with UPLB in second and De La Salle Araneta University in third, reinforcing CLSU’s status as a leader in veterinary education in the Philippines.

CLSU Delegates Bag Awards at CAASUC III 2026 Arts Month Celebration

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) delegates composed of students and coaches bagged awards in the CAASUC III 2026 National Arts Month Celebration held on March 5, 2026, at the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU). The winners include the following: • Dagliang Talumpati - Reyniel O. Tomas - 2nd Place - Coach: Junior M. Pacol • Song Writing - Juhaina Mae Bautista (Composer) & Jyla Althea C. Page (Vocalist) - 3rd Place - Coach: Alexander Louise F. Ibarra • Oratorio - Julius Zesar B. Cunanan - 5th Place - Coach: Cynthia Lyn Curada • Extemporaneous Speech - Vince Macadangdang - 5th Place - Coach: Dr. Mark Anthony G. Moyano The success of these students serves as a great inspiration to the whole CLSU community. DAP Introduces BAGANI Program to CLSU Young Leaders

To inspire a passion for transformative leadership and promote the principles of good governance among the students and young faculty of Central Luzon State University (CLSU), the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) launched the “BAGANI: Rising Leaders Development Program” today, March 6, at the RIE Amphitheater. The program aims to equip emerging leaders with the skills, vision, and mindset needed to drive positive change in their communities and beyond. During the event, DAP Project Officer Ellinoar Santos, emphasized the crucial role of the youth in shaping the nation's future. "We developed this program para sa mga young leaders. Kasi, you are the agents of today, you will change the system, and you are the leaders of tomorrow,” she shared. Mark Sambajon, BAGANI program communication specialist, echoed this sentiment, "We acknowledge that young people now are rising in their own communities, making these changes themselves. So, the academy wants to complement that and turn that energy into something transformative in the public sector." The DAP delegation was led by Mr. June Arvin Gudoy, Vice President for Corporate Affairs, who facilitated an engaging Q&A session on students’ roles in public service. Wrapping up the successful event, Dr. Irene G. Bustos, Office of the Student Affairs Dean, delivered the closing remarks, leaving the attendees with a powerful and timeless reminder from Mahatma Gandhi: “If you want to see the change in the world, be the change.” Before the information session, the DAP delegates paid a courtesy call to University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, where they formally presented the program. President Abella expressed his full support for the initiative, emphasizing that the program will play a significant role in shaping and developing future leaders.
