“We must ensure that AANR-generated technologies not only reach the people who need them most but are also accessible, sustainable, and inclusive. Better Communities through AANR-Generated Technologies of CLSU should not just be a theme, it MUST BE a commitment. A commitment to harnessing the power of innovation to transform lives, uplift communities, and create a more sustainable future for all. It is through this commitment that CLSU, alongside its partners and stakeholders, will continue to lead in building better communities, not just today, but for generations to come.”
These were the concluding words of former CLSU President and professor emeritus, Dr. Tereso A. Abella, who served as plenary speaker during the Research Innovation and Development Festival 2024 (RIDe Fest) with the theme “Better Communities through AANR-Generated Technologies.”
The session, attended by over 200 students and faculty researchers, benefited from the insights of Dr. Abella, who emphasized the crucial role of disseminating AANR-generated technologies to farmers, fisherfolk, and other stakeholders. He highlighted how this effort can help build resilient and sustainable communities across the country.
He challenged the administration to strengthen its extension program by providing incentives to extensionists, who play a crucial role in technology transfer and serve as a bridge to community empowerment. He also emphasized the importance of technology commercialization to ensure that innovations are accessible, sustainable, and inclusive.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session with the attendees.
