CLSU Climbs to 118th in WURI 2025 Global Rankings

Central Luzon State University has achieved a remarkable feat in the latest World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025, soaring 17 places to secure the 118th spot globally among 400 prestigious universities. This significant advancement from last year's 135th position underscores CLSU's unwavering commitment to pioneering impactful projects that directly contribute to national development. CLSU secured spots in three key categories, namely: Ranked 5th in the Funding for Sustainability Category with the project titled “FARM-ER POWER: Sowing Innovation, Harvesting Sustainability,” highlighting the university's innovative strategies to secure financial resources by diversifying funding streams and adopting new methods through its Business Affairs Program (UBAP). Ranked 5th in the Cost-Benefit Management Category titled “Rice Up: Growing Grains, Greater Gains,” a "seed-to-seed" and "seed-to-table" model project also implemented by UBAP. The project ensures the entire rice cycle, from planting to distribution, fostering economic and social benefits for CLSU through providing affordable rice to students, faculty, and the local community. Ranked 23rd in SDG-Based Responses to Global Challenges Category with the initiative titled “Goats for Global Goal: Small Ruminant Center Championing Sustainable Development,” a project led by the Small Ruminant Center which aims to enhance farmers' socio-economic status by improving small ruminant genetics, adopting sustainable feed and disease control practices, and promoting the development of superior goat and sheep products. It also provides farmers with practical training and access to new small ruminant technologies. Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, University President, expressed his deep appreciation for the ongoing commitment of faculty and staff. He highlighted their crucial role in spearheading projects that consistently advance the university's meaningful impact on the community. #SievingForExcellence

CLSU Showcases Network Infrastructure and Digital Initiatives in ICT Forum 2025

Dr. Khavee Agustus Botangen, Head of the Management Information System Office (MISO), represented the University in the Access Network Information Communications Technology (ICT) Forum with the theme “CyberBayan: Building and Securing Digital Future for EveryJuAN” held from July 20 to August 1, 2025, at the Plaza Adriano Events Place, Science City of Muñoz (SCM), Nueva Ecija. The event enhanced ICT accessibility, cultivated a pipeline of ICT professionals, particularly in cybersecurity, and fostered a collaborative ICT community within SCM. During the forum, Dr. Botangen delivered a presentation detailing the development of Central Luzon State University’s (CLSU) campus network infrastructure over the past five years, setting a foundation for the university's "eCLSU" initiative. He also highlighted ongoing digital transformation efforts within the university. Furthermore, Dr. Botangen also discussed how CLSU's scientific and innovative technological outputs, combined with the integration of emerging ICT solutions, can significantly contribute to SCM's aspiration of becoming a smart city. The forum convened a diverse group of experts and stakeholders, including representatives from key agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology - Nueva Ecija (DOST-NE), DOST's Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), Department of Trade and Industry - Nueva Ecija (DTI Nueva Ecija), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), and CLSU, among others. PGNE Seeks Partnership with CLSU for the Establishment of a Provincial Food Processing Facility

Recognizing the leadership of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in agriculture and agricultural technologies, the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija (PGNE) officials led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Joma San Pedro, presented the plan of the province to establish a Food Processing Facility (FPF) for high-value and other leading crops within the province, a first of its kind in the Region, today, July 31 at the New Administration Conference Room. “Under Governor Aurelio “Oyie” Matias Umali’s directive, we are here to seek CLSU’s help and craft a feasibility study and business plan for the proposed establishment of the FPF, considering that the CLSU is one of the leading universities in the country,” said Atty. San Pedro. In response, University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella accepted the challenge and recognized the importance of the proposal to maximize the impact of the university not just in the local community but also in the province and the region. “With the technical expertise of our faculty researchers and extension workers, we are in full support of this endeavor of the PGNE and we are looking forward to this partnership which hopefully will transcend politics and generations for the betterment of our province,” Dr. Abella affirmed. Other officials from PGNE included Ms. Mara San Pedro, Provincial Tourism Officer, Engr. Marlon Hernandez, Provincial Engineer, Dr. Jobeat Agliam, Provincial Agriculturist, and Mr. Angelo Piccio, Provincial Planning and Development Office. Meanwhile, CLSU officials include Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, VP for Administration, Dr. Karenina B. Romualdo, VP for Business Affairs, Dr. Celyrah B. Castillo, Dean of the College of Home Science and Industry, Dr. Marvin M. Cinense, Director of the Philippine Sino Center for Agricultural Technology, Dr. Aldrin Badua, Director of the University Extension Program Office, Assoc. President Abella among the Guests in the Post-SONA Discussions on Education

University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella joined Commission on Higher Education Chairperson, Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, and selected presidents of top-performing State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across the country during the 2025 Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) discussions held earlier today, July 30 at the Makabagong San Juan National Government Center, San Juan City, Metro Manila. The session centered on the theme ‘Education and Workers’ Welfare Development,’ as this topic received a significant attention in President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos' SONA. During the discussions, CHED Chair Agrupis affirmed that free education will continue and that, they are now ready to fulfill the President’s desire to ensure that every household has at least one college or techvoc graduate. With this, President Abella expressed his commitment that CLSU will take part in this national movement by upholding the university’s mission to deliver quality education and exemplary service to its stakeholders. Following the event, a brief meeting was conducted between CHED Chairperson Agrupis and SUC Presidents to discuss a potential collaborative project aimed at maximizing land resources for rice production, enabling SUCs to contribute to achieving rice sufficiency. Heads and presidents of higher education institutions who also graced the event were UP Manila Chancellor Dr. Michael Tee, Nueva Vizcaya State University President Wilfredo Dumale, Mariano Marcos State University President Virgilio Julius Manzano, outgoing Isabela State University President Dr. Ricmar Aquino, and Teacher Education Council Executive Director Dr. Jennie Jocson. Also present were CHED Officials including CLSU Board of Regents Chair and Commissioner Desiderio R. Apag III.
