CLSU CONDUCTS FIRST MANGO HARVEST FESTIVAL

Dec. 10, 2021

University Extension Center | Research

CLSU through the University Extension Center (UEC), conducted the first-ever Mango Harvest Festival last August 7, 2020, at the Mango Techno Learning Site (MTLS) located inside the campus. The mango-top working technology was highlighted on the said event where the concept is the grafting of Carabao mango with the Chokanan variety from Thailand which is considered as heavy fruiting even during the rainy season. Gracing the event were Dr. Tereso A. Abella, CLSU’s former President, Dr. Fe L. Porciuncula, Vice President for Research and Extension, R&E Directors, and faculty and staff researchers from the R&E Program. Participants of the event were able to pick and harvest around 300k kilos of mangoes. According to Efraim G. Saturno, Project Leader of MTLS, he was honored and grateful for the trust given to him by the R&E program in pursuance of this project. He hopes that it will be sustained and maintained as it’s considered as one of the technologies that they can impart to mango growers. The UEC intends to register the MTLS as one of the learning sites of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI). The festival was held while in observance of the minimum health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
