Department of Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar and CLSU President Edgar A. Orden signed today the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the establishment of the DA-NFRDI Fisheries Biotechnology Center (FBC). Representatives from the different agencies and private partners served as witnesses in the MOA signing. "I am very happy and impressed with what is happening here in the Science City of Munoz, it is indeed living up to its name because of the state-of-the-art facilities and centers that are built to withstand the test of time," Dr. Dar said in his message. He also mentioned that CLSU is producing quality human capital resources with the presence of all the national institutes and centers within the campus. “There is a high rate of return for the university because these facilities offer experiential learning that will make the students competitive not just in the country but in the world,” he added. As a response, President Orden said "we are indeed lucky in the Muñoz Science Community because we have the crops and livestock biotechnology centers at PhilRice and PCC respectively, and now the Fisheries Biotechnology Center.” He also thanked these institutions for hiring CLSU graduates and retirees as consultants. Come April and May, the University will inaugurate two DA-funded projects namely, the establishment of the Precision and Digital Agriculture Center (PreDiC) and the Center for Transboundary Diseases (CenTRAD), respectively.
