CLSU Signs New Partnerships for Community Development and S&T Education
The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) solidified its institutional commitment to community development, rehabilitation, and education through a series of significant Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) signed with key government agencies and a local government unit in Central Luzon led by University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, held on November 6 and 13, 2025. The first two agreements were formalized on November 6. The College of Home Science and Industry (CHSI), through the Department of Textile and Garment Technology (DTGT), signed a MOA with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office 3. Represented by CHSI Dean Dr. Celyrah B. Castillo and DTGT Head Dr. Sarah SJ. Algozo, along with BJMP Regional Director Jail Chief Superintendent Paulino H. Moreno, Jr., the partnership focuses on providing Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) with training in textile and garment skills. This initiative aims to offer crucial livelihood opportunities and practical, income-generating skills that support the BJMP's mandate for rehabilitation and successful societal reintegration. On the same day, a second MOA was signed between the College of Science (CoS), through the Department of Mathematics and Physics, represented by Department Head Dr. John Rafael M. Antalan, and the Department of Education (DepEd) – School Division of San Jose, represented by Dr. Veronica B. Paraguison. This agreement will facilitate the development and enhancement of science and technology education in San Jose schools. The Department of Mathematics and Physics will provide technical assistance and mentorship to DepEd personnel and students, particularly in basic research, data analysis, and interpretation. Furthering its extension efforts, on November 13, the CHSI DFST, represented by Dean Castillo and DFST Head Dr. Joel G. Juvinal, signed an agreement with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Floridablanca, Pampanga, represented by Municipal Mayor Hon. Michael L. Galang, ENP, MPA. This partnership focuses on producing and distributing naturally fortified, healthy, and convenient rice-based food products, including instant germinated brown rice congee, instant aromatic arroz caldo, and oatmeal rice raisin cookies, to -prone areas through other State Universities and Colleges. These collaborations with BJMP, DepEd San Jose, and LGU Floridablanca showcase CLSU’s strong commitment to its extension mandate. They ensure that CLSU’s research and expertise deliver tangible benefits, from creating livelihood opportunities for PDLs to enhancing science and mathematics education and supporting local food industries. #SievingForExcellence
