Jul. 27, 2022

Jairus Jesse Tubal | SCO

To foster collaborative efforts in agricultural production, the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) formally inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Yara Fertilizers Philippines Inc. - a Norwegian chemical company that produces, distributes, and sells nitrogen-based mineral fertilizers and related industrial products, held on July 26, 2022 at the CLSU College of Agriculture (CAg).   Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, CLSU Vice President for Business Affairs and Mr. Toby Goodroad, Yara Fertilizers Philippines Inc. country manager for the Philippines represented the University and the company, respectively, and led the MOA signing. Michael Ardieta, Marcelo Espiritu and Dr. Alona T. Badua, CAg Dean also joined the activity to serve as a witnesses.   In his message, VP Mactal shared that this was one of his visions that became a reality - to establish a demo site where students’ skills can be enhanced and serve as an avenue for learning for farmers and other stakeholders. He also emphasized that this is a strategic partnership especially because of the current government’s focus on agriculture.      This forged industry-academe collaboration is a new milestone for the University to strengthen partnerships and cooperation in finding new and practical solutions for farmers through knowledge-sharing and science-based farming.    Aside from the MOA signing, there was also a blessing, ribbon cutting, and ceremonial tree-planting to launch the Yara Crop Experience Center located within the vicinity of the CAg.   The event was attended by faculty members from the CLSU CAg and other representatives from private institutions.
