CLSU Maintains Strong Presence in WURI 2024 Global Rankings

The Central Luzon State University sustains its position as one of the premier institutions in the latest World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI) 2024, securing the 135th position among the Global Top 300 Innovative Universities. The university ranked in the following categories: Rank 14 in Industrial Application with the program entitled "From Seed to Plate: Translating Research to Institutional Revenues and Commercialization," led by Dr. Marvin Cinense. This program underscores the advantages of locally-bred Hybrid Rice (Mestiso82) to farmers and other stakeholders. Rank 22 in Crisis Management with the program titled "Integrated Crisis Management for Ecosystem and Livelihood Sustainability: A Ridge-to-Reef Approach," spearheaded by Dr. Gella Patria Abella. This program highlights the endeavors to restore the biodiversity of the province of Zambales. Rank 26 in Entrepreneurial Spirit with the program titled "Habitat for Innovation in Business Ecosystem (HIVE)," led by Dr. Karenina Romualdo. This program accentuates the initiative to enhance students' entrepreneurial skills while fostering collaboration and assistance for entrepreneurs in the region. Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, the University President, conveyed his utmost appreciation for the continuous dedication of faculty and staff in spearheading projects that always propel CLSU toward making a meaningful impact that contributes to nation-building.

CLSU Hybrid Rice Harvest Festival Showcases Innovation, High-Yielding Varieties

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) through the University Business Affairs Program (UBAP) gathered farmers, students, and agricultural partners for the Hybrid Rice Harvest Festival held today, March 18, at the field demonstration site and Multi-purpose Gymnasium (MPG). The Festival served as a strategic bridge between the academe and the farming community, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. Led by Dr. Karenina B. Romualdo, Vice President for Business Affairs, and Assoc. Prof. Jaypee Estigoy, Director for Crop Production, alongside Dr. Ace Mugssy Agustin and Mr. Francis Mina as rice module project managers, the event highlighted high-performing hybrid rice varieties for local farmers and students. It showcased the results of this year’s competitive planting models, providing data-driven insights and practical benchmarks to guide local growers in optimizing productivity and decision-making. In his message, University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella reaffirmed CLSU’s steadfast commitment to spearheading agricultural advancement through research and innovation. Strengthening this vision, the program featured a lineup of agricultural leaders who shared regional insights, including Dr. Joice San Andres, Director for Animal Production, representing VP Romualdo, Mr. Christian Ramos, Regional SEED Coordinator, DA-RFO III, Mr. Leonel Parugrug, City Agricultural Office of Muñoz, and Dr. Jovita B. Agliam from the Provincial Agriculture Office. The derby was supported by the attendance and participation of top seed companies and agricultural research institutions. CLSU Formally Signs Agreement with CCPPO, ACT

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) strengthened its commitment to community service and commercialization by formalizing two strategic partnerships through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing with Cabanatuan City Parole and Probation Office (CCPPO) and ACT Machineries and Metal Craft Corporation (ACT) on March 18, 2026. Led by University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, these collaborations aim to translate academic expertise into tangible solutions for both social welfare and agricultural productivity. The partnership between the Department of Psychology and the CCPPO focuses on the psychological well-being of parolees and probationers through utilizing the expertise of the faculty in providing essential mental health support. Joining Dr. Abella for the signing were College of Arts and Social Sciences Dean, Dr. Jay C. Santos, and Psychology Department Chair, Dr. Nixon Agaser, alongside CCPPO officials led by Chief Probation and Parole Officer Gloria E. Peralta. Meanwhile, CLSU also established a licensing agreement with ACT to commercialize the Mobile Solar-Powered Pump Irrigation System (MSPIS). This will provide farmers and local stakeholders with sustainable, cost-effective mechanization solutions. Representing this endeavor were Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, Dr. Emmanuel A. Vera Cruz, and Center for Hybrid Rice Research, Innovation, and Mechanization (CHRRIM) Director, Dr. Marvin M. Cinense, alongside ACT President Mr. Ronie R. Ramos, and Plant Manager Marites M. Saldo. These partnerships underscore CLSU’s steadfast commitment to strengthening academic and research linkages with government agencies and industry partners, translating collaborative efforts into impactful innovations and meaningful societal outcomes.

CVSM Claims 1st Place in Group Category at 33rd Nat’l Vet Quiz Contest

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine (CVSM), claimed first place in the Group Category in the highly competitive 33rd National Veterinary Quiz Contest (NVQC) organized by the UP Venerable Knight Veterinarians Fraternity, held at the Charles Fuller Baker Memorial Hall, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) on March 17, 2026. The CVSM team delivered an impressive performance, finishing ahead of Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) in the rankings. In the overall standings, PSAU secured the grand championship title, followed by Southwestern University (SWU) PHINMA as first runner-up. UPLB placed second runner-up, while CLSU claimed a strong third runner-up finish. The winning team was composed of Allen Dave B. Serrano, Mark Joedel U. Mendez, and Renato S. Alombro Jr, guided by coaches Dr. Roderick Salvador and Dr. Christian Allan Santos. Bringing together representatives from 14 universities, the NVQC rigorously tested participants’ knowledge of veterinary medicine, critical decision-making, and seamless teamwork under pressure. The CVSM's triumph underscores CLSU's legacy of excellence in veterinary education, building on earlier victories in various national competitions. Meanwhile, the NVQC coincided with the 2nd Animal Health Innovation Summit (AHIS), themed "AgriVet Philippines: One Health, One Future – Reaching Communities, Sustaining Lives." Veterinary students from across the country, including CLSU students, networked extensively, forging connections to advance the Philippine veterinary sector. #SievingForExcellence
