Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM), signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Climate Action and Sustainable Association Inc. (CLASEAI) on March 14, 2025, as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability.
This agreement signifies a mutual commitment between the two environmentally conscious institutions to develop programs aimed at disseminating knowledge regarding the challenges posed by climate change and launching activities that address both adaptation and mitigation strategies.
The partnership was formalized by Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, University President, and Dr. Annie Melinda P. Alberto, CLASEAI President and former CLSU faculty member. The signing was witnessed by Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Angeles M. De Leon, Dean of the College of Science; and Dr. Shirly C. Serrano, Head of ICCEM, as part of the Institute’s weeklong anniversary celebration.
President Abella expressed his optimism about achieving climate change resiliency, asserting that the shared commitment of CLSU and CLASEAI will inspire younger generations, especially the CLSU Community, to continue in pursuit of this endeavor and carry with them the mantle of environmental stewardship.
Dr. Alberto reassured attendees that CLSU could emerge as a leading model for state universities in Region III by diligently implementing climate change adaptation and mitigation practices. Before the MOA signing, Dr. Alberto also delivered an informative lecture focused on the science of climate change, detailing its causes and outlining necessary actions for effective adaptation and mitigation.
