DOST SECRETARY DELA PE'A VISITS CLSU

Secretary Fortunato D. dela Peña of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) visited CLSU last January 24. Together with the DOST Secretary were Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, Executive Director, Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD); and Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, Executive Director of the DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) and president of the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (PhilAAST). Speci?cally, they visited the DOST-funded research and development projects being implemented by the university. Among them are the Land and Water Resources Management Center (LWRMC), Hydroponics and Aquaponics Project, and the Small Ruminants Center (SRC) headed by Dr. Armando N. Espino, Dr. Chito Sace and Mr. Neal del Rosario, respectively. According to Dr. Tereso A. Abella, CLSU president, Secretary dela Peña wants that the technologies developed by each project be commercialized and eventually create impact in the communities. “The DOST is willing to allot funds to centers which will pursue commercialization of research technologies”, Dr. Abella also said. Another activity held during the visit of the DOST and PhilAAST of?cials was the oathtaking of a number of CLSU researchers and of?cials as members of the PhilAAST which was administered by Secretary dela Peña. Secretary dela Peña’s group also visited the Philippine Carabao Center, and the PhilMech which also carry out researches funded by DOST.

CLSU Holds Blessing for Farmers’ Training Hostel

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) officially inaugurated the Farmers’ Training Hostel during a blessing ceremony held on November 20, 2024. The blessing was led by Fr. Rufo Ramil Cruz, CLSU Chaplain, joined by Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, University President, Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, Vice President for Administration, Dr. RavelinaR. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Karenina B. Romualdo, Vice President for University Business Affairs, Dr. Ma. Elizabeth C. Leoveras, Head of Auxiliary Services alongside other esteemed members of the Administrative Council. The newly renovated Farmers’ Training Hostel is a two-story building with 24 rooms, designed to accommodate visitors and guests, particularly those attending stay-in training programs. The hostel is located behind the CEC Hostel and adjacent to the R&E Cafeteria.

The recent typhoon brought challenges to Central Luzon State University, leaving visible signs of its impact across the campus.
