The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) partnered with the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) to develop a prototype moisture meter tailored specifically for Adlai, a nutrient-rich grain cultivated in the Philippines. The collaboration aims to address the challenges faced by Adlai farmers in determining the moisture content of their harvest, which is crucial for ensuring grain quality and shelf life. With this development, Adlai farmers will be equipped with a reliable tool to make informed decisions about storage and postharvest approaches to maximize their yield and profit. The research team from Agricultural Machinery Design and Prototyping Center (AMDPC of PHilMech headed by Engr. Arlene Joaquin and Dr. Kyu-Hong Choi, project leader of the Korean team of AMDPC visited CLSU and met with Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, University President along with Dr. Amor A. San Juan, faculty from the Chemistry Department to discuss the details of the collaboration on March 5, 2024. Dr. Abella conveyed his support for the project as this demonstrates the institution's commitment to advancing agricultural technologies in the county. Furthermore he acknowledged the management of PhilMech headed by Dr. Dionisio Alvindia, Director for their confidence in the expertise of CLSU researchers in implementing such projects.
