Student-Athletes Continue to Slay in University Intrams

CLSU student-athletes displayed remarkable tenacity, perseverance, and camaraderie despite the intense heat during the first two days of the 57th University Intramurals. The players from different units and various competition from ball games, athletics, racket games, and individual sports competing for gold were cheered by their supporters wearing their unit colors making the event colorful and meaningful for everyone. The nine units vying for the championship title are the Golden Fighting Lynx (CEd), Mighty Aggies (CAg), Raging Dragons (CEn), Unbreakable Antlers (CVSM), Flaming Cheetahs (CASS), Blue Chips (CBAA), Red Spines (CF), Blazing Phoenix (CHSI), and Fearless Eagles (CoS). The announcement of champions will be held tomorrow at the University Gymnatorium or Grandstand immediately after the last championship game.

CLSU Showcases Major Savings and Sustainability Gains with Solar Panels

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) highlighted the significant impact of its 997-kilowatt solar panel system, installed by First Gen Energy Solutions (FGES) and Pi Energy, during a project site tour on March 7, 2025, attended by potential clients. The tour at the CLSU ICT Research and Development Training Center (CLIRDEC) building was led by Mr. Tim Galang, Customer Experience Officer of Pi Energy, providing an opportunity for other stakeholders to witness the project's success and its contribution to the university's sustainability efforts. Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, Vice President for Administration, thanked FGES for choosing CLSU as their partner State Universities and Colleges (SUC) in promoting sustainable energy. "This partnership has become a valuable benchmark for other SUCs, our students are also becoming more aware of the importance of utilizing solar energy,” said Dr. Mactal. Meanwhile, a detailed presentation by Ms. Tanya Flores-Rodil and Mr. Gelo Ramos explained the various types of solar panels and their benefits. While Engr. Renato Dela Cruz, Chief of Electrical and Telephone Services of Physical Plant and Site Development (PPSDS) highlighted the significant financial impact of the solar panels, revealing that CLSU has saved approximately 3.8 million pesos annually in electricity costs. “Bukod sa sobrang laki ng natitipid ng CLSU pag dating sapagbabayad ng kuryente, nakaka tulong pa tayo sa kalikasan at nagiging compliant tayo sa Department of Energy” stated Engr. Renato Dela Cruz, emphasizing the solar panels' contribution to both financial savings and regulatory compliance. FGES representative concluded the meeting by expressing their commitment to strengthening and expanding their collaboration with CLSU. CHEd Grants COPC to 5 CLSU Programs

To align its programs with industry demands and national and international education standards, CLSU underwent a rigorous evaluation process by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for five of its academic programs. As a result, the university successfully earned the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC), affirming its commitment to quality education and excellence. CLSU has been awarded the COPC for five academic programs: the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering from the College of Engineering (CEn), as well as the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, Master of Arts in Literature, Master of Science in Rural Development, and Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development from the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS). DA USec for Livestock initiates Vaccine Development for Transboundary Animal Diseases with CLSU

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and its attached agencies - DA-Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI), DA-Livestock Biotechnology Center, and DA-Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) is embarking on a collaborative research initiative to develop vaccines for Transboundary Animal Diseases (TADs). The Vaccine Development for Transboundary Animal Diseases project, which is the brainchild of the current DA-Undersecretary for Livestock , Dr. Constante J. Palabrica, will be set at the Center for Transboundary Animal Diseases (CenTrAD) to be led by Dr. Virginia Venturina, a faculty researcher from the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine, and current CenTrAD Director. This initiative aims to strengthen disease prevention strategies and promote sustainable livestock production through innovative research and development. By addressing the threats posed by TADs, the project seeks to protect the Philippines’ livestock industry, ensuring food security and economic stability. Dr. Claro N. Mingala, DA National Livestock Program Director, expressed his full support for the project, highlighting that combining the resources and expertise from the involved agencies is essential for achieving common goals. University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella reassured the participants that his administration fully supports the project and provides necessary provisions.
