Dr. Ahmet Uludag, a Weed Science Professor from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMU) in Turkey along with Dr. Santiago R. Obien, Former Executive Director of PhilRice visited Central Luzon State University (CLSU) to explore the possibility of a collaboration in the field of crop protection on March 13, 2024.
A tour around the campus including the Agricultural Museum, Philippine Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT) and KAMALIG S&T-based Agritourism Farm provided Dr. Uludag and Dr. Obien a glimpse of the history and current undertakings of the university in crop research and production.
A table discussion then took place with CLSU experts led by Dr. Edgar A. Orden, VP for Research and Extension, Dr. Jonathan V. Fabula, Director, University Research Program Office and Concurrent Director, Precision and Digital Agriculture Center, and Dr. Marvin M. Cinense, PhilSCAT Director. Also present are the faculty researchers of the College of Agriculture (CAg) including Dr. Elaida R. Fiegalan, Head, Plant Pest Disease Diagnostic and Research Center, Dr. Marita S. Labe, and Assoc. Prof. Jaypee H. Estigoy, Director, Crop Production Division and Head of the CAg Crop Protection Department.
Their visit also included a meeting with the University President, Dr. Evaristo A. Abella who welcomed them and acknowledged their interest for collaboration understanding the importance of such partnership to strengthen the capacity of the university in terms of teaching and crop research.
